Crocs of the Northern Territory

Crocs

The salt water crocs of Darwin and other towns around that area live in the mangroves and tidal creeks of the north coast. These crocs are often thought as rogues that is why they are captured, shot or poisoned, however, unless disturbed they don't usually harm people. Fruit bats and buffalo make perfect bait for the salt water crocodile; these traps are usually for croc farms but some people use these for making croc skin boots or expensive purses. These doings are illegal and are classed as poaching but some people don't get caught and sell the skin or meat for high prices

The Breeding Season

The breeding season for crocs usually starts in early summer and goes till late autumn. The mother goes into a trance-like state while laying but as soon as they're finished they guard their eggs with their lives, they'll even go to the extent of killing other crocs that come near their nests. Provoked females may even kill the father of the hatchlings. As soon as the eggs hatch the mother leaves the nest thinking that her job is done but many of her young will be eaten by either birds or other crocs

Dragons

The dragon may have also been part of the reptilian family although there is a debate on whether they even existed for there are no remains of such powerful animals are to be found so no scientific examination can occur. These animals may just have been manifestations of meteorites; the croc however has been around for millions of years and may have been confused with a "sea serpent".
